Protection of Soils and Water Resources

The use of land over decades as sites for industrial and waste management facilities has resulted in permanent degradation of soil and groundwater resources. Additionally, the growing worldwide scarcity of clean and readily accessible surface and groundwater increasingly requires action for protection against anthropogenic contamination and excessive use.

Measures for conserving soil and water resources focus on preventing contamination, remediation and cleanup following contamination, and preservation of natural or near-natural conditions. In the case of watercourses, it also includes preparation of local and regional resource management plans.

Sinartia's know-how is based on numerous successful projects, covering: development of localities; plant premises development planning; land reclamation and restoration; expert appraisals of soil and water resources; groundwater modeling; investigations of contaminated land; and remediation of contaminated sites. The measures applied for soil and groundwater protection range from straightforward enclosure to complex in-situ and ex-situ remediation.
